Freestyle is a pulsating concept that tells an ancient story about improvisation, which is the art of faithfully repeating what is given, with a difference. We often make use of jazz and hiphop in order to be inspired and to clarify what we mean, and also because these art forms puts us in direct contact with artists and poets of creative resistance. However, we are not interested in pure difference, which is something that belongs to a story that we do not share. We live in dirty, underground jazz clubs that smells of blood and tears. Not even free jazz is free from ideology since our relationality unavoidably creates relatively stabil entities. Freestyling is a way of relating to such entities; ideologies, structures, creeds... It is a style that does not understand them as re-presentations of another world, but as immanent and plastic. We understand faith, then, as a material, vibrating room; a catacomb, never as a sanctuary or a prison.
